DiTEP is designed to help combat the growing problem of drug use in educational settings. Developed in cooperation with the  International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this program merges effective training methods from Arizona, Kansas, and New York. 

DITEP, based on the national Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) program employs medically and scientifically backed methods for detecting drug and alcohol impairment, validated by research at Johns Hopkins University and the Southern California Research Institute. This training is intended to provide school administrators and nurses, and others involved in the education process (teachers, security staff, and others), with a systematic approach to recognizing and evaluating individuals in the academic environment who are abusing and impaired by drugs, both legal and illegal, in order to provide early recognition and intervention.
